  • Yield: 24 deviled egg halves 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

California Roll Deviled Eggs combine the classic flavors of a California sushi roll with the creamy texture of deviled eggs. This unique appetizer features hard-boiled eggs filled with a wasabi-mayo yolk mixture, topped with succulent crab meat, fresh avocado, cucumber, radishes, and a sprinkle of black sesame seeds for a delightful fusion bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Eggs and Filling

  • 1 dozen eggs
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons wasabi paste
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Toppings and Garnishes

  • ½ cup cooked crab meat
  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced
  • ½ cucumber, thinly sliced
  • Radishes, thinly sliced
  • Black sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the Eggs: Place the eggs in a large saucepan and add enough cold water to cover the eggs by about 1 inch. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover the saucepan and remove it from heat. Let the eggs stand in the hot water for 13 minutes to cook through.
  2. Cool and Peel Eggs: Drain the hot water and immediately transfer the eggs to an ice-water bath to cool completely. Once cooled, gently peel the eggs to remove the shells.
  3. Prepare the Filling: Slice the peeled eggs in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl. Mash the yolks with a fork until smooth, then stir in the mayonnaise, wasabi paste, and salt until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
  4. Fill the Egg Whites: Using a spoon or piping bag, fill the egg white halves with the wasabi-mayo yolk mixture, distributing it evenly among all the halves.
  5. Add Toppings: Top each filled egg half with a small amount of cooked crab meat. Garnish with thin slices of avocado, cucumber, and radish, then sprinkle black sesame seeds on top for a finishing touch.

Notes

  • Use fresh eggs for easier peeling and better texture.
  • You can substitute real crab meat with imitation crab if preferred.
  • Adjust the amount of wasabi paste according to your preferred spice level.
  • Chill deviled eggs before serving for best flavor and texture.
  • Black sesame seeds add a nice visual contrast; toast them lightly for extra flavor if desired.
