Instructions

  1. Make the Brownies: Preheat the oven according to the brownie mix package instructions. Prepare the brownie batter by combining the brownie mix with 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 2 large eggs, and 1/4 cup water as directed. Pour the batter into a square baking pan and bake until set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow the brownies to cool completely, then cut into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Prepare Cheesecake Filling: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, whip the 1 cup heavy whipping cream with 1/4 cup powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream, to create a light and fluffy cheesecake filling.
  3. Assemble the Trifle: Using a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, layer half of the brownie cubes as the base layer. Drizzle a generous amount of caramel sauce over the brownies, then spread half of the cheesecake filling evenly on top. Repeat the layering process with the remaining brownie cubes, caramel sauce, and cheesecake mixture.
  4. Top and Chill: Finish the trifle with a final drizzle of caramel sauce and sprinkle optional chopped nuts or chocolate chips on top for added texture and flavor. Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly before serving.
