Churro Cheesecake Bars Recipe

  • Author: Gabriel
  • Total Time: 3 hours 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 bars 1x

Description

Churro Cheesecake Bars combine the cinnamon-sugar flavor of classic churros with creamy, rich cheesecake layered between flaky crescent roll dough. This easy-to-make dessert features a buttery, puffed golden crust dusted generously with cinnamon sugar, making it a perfect sweet treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Cinnamon Sugar:

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

Cheesecake Bars:

  • Two 8-ounce packages refrigerated crescent roll dough or sheets
  • 16 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine ground cinnamon and granulated sugar thoroughly. Set aside this mixture for later use.
  2. Preheat and Prep Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and position the rack in the middle. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan, then sprinkle 1 to 2 tablespoons of the cinnamon sugar evenly on the bottom of the pan.
  3. Create Base Layer: Open one tube of crescent roll dough and carefully unroll it. Press the perforated seams together to form a single, rectangular sheet. Place this sheet evenly in the prepared pan covering the entire bottom surface.
  4. Make Cheesecake Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract together until the mixture is smooth and creamy without lumps. Pour this cheesecake filling evenly over the crescent dough base layer.
  5. Top Layer and Butter Coating: Open the second tube of crescent roll dough. Unroll and seal the seams as before, then gently place this sheet over the cheesecake filling to form the top crust. Drizzle the melted butter over this top layer and spread evenly using a spoon or pastry brush.
  6. Add Cinnamon Sugar Topping: Generously sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over the buttered top layer to create the classic churro flavor and finish.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Bake the assembled bars in the preheated oven for 26 to 30 minutes, or until the crescent dough puffs up and turns a golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
  8. Chill and Serve: After the bars have cooled to room temperature, refrigerate them for at least 3 hours to set the layers for easier slicing. Cut into bars and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Serving Suggestions: Serve these bars slightly chilled or at room temperature. Pair with fresh berries or drizzle with caramel sauce for an enhanced dessert experience.
  • Tips & Tricks: Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened before mixing to avoid lumps and achieve a smooth filling. Press the crescent roll seams tightly to prevent gaps and leaking during baking.
  • Storage & Reheating: Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To reheat, warm individual bars in the microwave for about 10 seconds if you prefer them warm. You can also freeze the bars for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
