DIY Colorful Worry Stones Craft with Fimo Soft Clay Recipe

  • Author: Gabriel
  • Total Time: 2 hours 40 minutes
  • Yield: 3-5 worry stones

Description

Create your own colorful and personalized worry stones using soft polymer clay. These handcrafted stones not only serve as soothing fidget tools to relieve stress and anxiety but also provide a fun and creative tactile experience perfect for all ages. With simple steps including mixing colors, shaping, baking, and sealing, you’ll have durable, beautiful stones to keep or gift.

Ingredients

Materials

  • Fimo Soft Clay or Play-Doh (2-3 colors of your choice)
  • Modge Podge Acrylic Gloss Sealer

Instructions

  1. Choose Colors: Start by picking out 2 or 3 colors of your clay. Mix and match to your heart’s content to create fun color combinations.
  2. Form Clay Ball: Roll the chosen colors together into a nice, fun ball. Let your creativity flow as you combine the colors.
  3. Shape Into Snake: Shape the ball into a long snake form. There are no rules here, so just let your imagination guide your shaping.
  4. Create Spiral: Twist the snake into a spiral and then roll it back into a ball, creating interesting patterns in the clay.
  5. Form Stone Shape: Press down on the ball to shape it into a flat stone shape. Feel free to experiment with designs and textures to make it unique.
  6. Add Indentation (Optional): Use your thumb to create a gentle indentation in the middle of the stone. This step is optional but adds tactile interest.
  7. Bake: Place your shaped stones on foil pans and bake at 230 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes to harden the clay.
  8. Cool Down: Let your worry stones cool for a couple of hours after baking to ensure they are completely set.
  9. Seal: Finish off by applying a shiny coat of Modge Podge Acrylic Gloss Sealer to give the stones a beautiful glossy finish and added durability.

Notes

  • Use Fimo Soft Clay for long-lasting and durable worry stones; Play-Doh may crack over time.
  • Knead the clay thoroughly before shaping to make it softer and easier to work with.
  • Bake in foil pans to prevent sticking and ensure even heat distribution.
  • Allow stones to cool completely before sealing to avoid trapping heat or moisture.
  • Customize the colors and shapes to reflect your mood or to make unique gifts.
  • Store the finished stones in a dry place to maintain their gloss and durability.
