Ham and Cheese Sticks Recipe

  • Author: Gabriel
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 Ham and Cheese Sticks 1x

Description

Deliciously gooey and savory, these Ham and Cheese Sticks are a perfect appetizer or snack. Made with flaky crescent dough wrapped around savory ham and melted cheddar cheese sticks, then brushed with a flavorful butter mixture including Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and poppy seeds, they bake to a golden brown and are irresistibly tasty served hot.

Ingredients

Scale

Ham and Cheese Sticks

  • 2 tubes crescent dough sheets
  • 1 pound deli-sliced ham
  • 8 cheddar cheese sticks

Butter Glaze

  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ tablespoon dried minced onion or onion powder
  • ½ tablespoon poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking sheet by greasing it well or lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare dough pieces: Roll out the crescent dough sheets on a clean surface and cut each sheet into 4 equal pieces, giving you a total of 8 pieces to work with.
  3. Assemble ham and cheese: Evenly distribute the deli-sliced ham across the 8 dough pieces. On top of the ham on each piece, place one cheddar cheese stick. Fold in the ends to enclose the fillings and roll up each to seal the contents inside.
  4. Arrange on baking sheet: Place each wrapped ham and cheese stick carefully on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  5. Make butter glaze: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, dried minced onion or onion powder, and poppy seeds, mixing well to create a flavorful glaze.
  6. Brush sticks: Using a pastry brush, generously coat each ham and cheese stick with the butter glaze, ensuring each is well covered.
  7. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Serve warm: Remove from oven and enjoy your Ham and Cheese Sticks hot and fresh for the best flavor and gooey texture.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can brush an additional layer of the butter glaze halfway through baking.
  • Feel free to substitute cheddar cheese sticks with mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor.
  • These sticks can be made ahead of time, assembled and refrigerated, then baked fresh before serving.
  • Serve with mustard or your favorite dipping sauce for added taste.
