Hissy Fit Dip Recipe

  • Author: Gabriel
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

Hissy Fit Dip is a rich and creamy baked cheese dip featuring a blend of cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, sharp cheddar, and pepper jack cheeses, combined with savory cooked ground sausage and diced green chilies for a spicy kick. Baked until golden and bubbly, this flavorful dip is perfect for parties and gatherings, served warm with crackers, tortilla chips, or bread slices.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese & Dairy

  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese

Meat

  • 1 cup cooked ground sausage (mild or spicy, crumbled)

Vegetables & Flavorings

  • 1 4 oz can diced green chiles, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Serving

  • Crackers (tortilla chips, or bread slices for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a medium baking dish or cast-iron skillet to prevent sticking and aid in easy cleanup.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until it is fully browned and crumbled. Once cooked, drain any excess grease to keep the dip from being too oily.
  3. Mix the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy, forming the base of the dip.
  4. Add Cheese & Flavor: Add in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, cooked sausage, diced green chiles, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  5. Bake: Spread the combined mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbling and the top is golden brown.
  6. Serve Hot: Remove the dip from the oven and optionally garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added color and freshness. Serve warm alongside crackers, tortilla chips, or bread slices for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicier dip, add extra diced green chilies or additional cayenne pepper.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken sausage for a leaner option.
  • Make sure to soften the cream cheese beforehand for easier mixing.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated; stir well before serving.
  • This dip pairs well with a variety of chips, bread, or fresh vegetables.
