Peppermint Swirl Fudge Recipe

  • Author: Gabriel
  • Total Time: 4 hours 25 minutes
  • Yield: 36 squares 1x

Description

This Peppermint Swirl Fudge combines creamy white and semi-sweet chocolate layers infused with peppermint extract and crushed peppermint candies, creating a festive and delicious treat perfect for holidays and special occasions. The red food coloring adds an optional vibrant swirl for a visually stunning dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 14 oz (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups white chocolate chips
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Flavorings and Toppings

  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
  • Red food coloring (optional for extra swirl effect)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing the paper to overhang the edges. This will make removing the hardened fudge easier later.
  2. Melt Chocolate: In two separate bowls, melt the white and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Use a microwave by heating in 30-second intervals, stirring in between to ensure even melting, or melt using a double boiler on the stove for gentle heat.
  3. Mix Ingredients: Stir half of the sweetened condensed milk into each bowl of melted chocolate until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  4. Add Peppermint: Mix the peppermint extract into the white chocolate mixture to infuse the mint flavor evenly.
  5. Create Layers: Pour half of the semi-sweet chocolate mixture into the prepared pan and smooth it into an even layer. Quickly pour half of the white chocolate mixture on top. Repeat with the remaining chocolate mixtures to create layered effect. Use a knife to gently swirl the two chocolate layers together to create a marbled pattern.
  6. Add Peppermint Candies: Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies evenly over the top of the layered fudge. If desired, add a few drops of red food coloring and swirl with a toothpick for a more pronounced and festive red swirl effect.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the fudge for at least 4 hours or until it becomes firm enough to cut cleanly.
  8. Serve: Use the overhanging parchment paper to lift the fudge out of the pan. Cut into squares and serve chilled for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use good quality chocolate chips for the best flavor and texture.
  • Melt chocolates carefully to avoid burning or seizing; stirring regularly is essential.
  • Refrigeration is key to setting the fudge properly; do not skip chilling time.
  • For a stronger peppermint flavor, adjust peppermint extract to taste.
  • Store leftover fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Allow fudge to sit at room temperature a few minutes before serving for easier cutting.
