Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough
- 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade pizza dough)
Filling
- 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce or pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or your choice of toppings such as sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Finishing
- Olive oil for brushing (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the pot pies.
- Prepare Ramekins: Lightly grease 4-6 small ramekins or oven-safe bowls to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
- Roll Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness to create a thin crust base.
- Cut Dough: Cut the dough into circles or squares large enough to fit into your ramekins, allowing about 1 inch of dough to hang over the sides for sealing later.
- Form Crust: Gently press the dough into the bottom and sides of each ramekin to form a crust that will hold the fillings.
- Add Sauce: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce into the bottom of each dough-lined ramekin.
- Add Cheese Layer: Sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce for a melty, cheesy layer.
- Add Toppings: Add a few slices of pepperoni or your preferred toppings such as sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives.
- Season Filling: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using) over the toppings for extra flavor.
- Top and Seal: Add more mozzarella cheese on top and fold the overhanging dough over the filling to partially cover it.
- Brush with Olive Oil: Optionally brush the tops with olive oil for a golden, shiny crust finish after baking.
- Bake: Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Cool: Remove from the oven and allow the pot pies to cool for 5 minutes to set before serving.
- Serve: Serve hot with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- You can customize the toppings to include your favorite pizza ingredients like sausage, mushrooms, or veggies.
- For a crispier crust, brush the dough with olive oil before baking.
- Use homemade pizza dough for a fresher taste and texture if preferred.
- If you don’t have ramekins, use oven-safe muffin tins or small bowls.
- The recipe yields 4-6 individual servings depending on the ramekin size.
