  • Author: Gabriel
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

Pizza Pot Pies are a fun and convenient twist on classic pizza, baked individually in ramekins with layers of pizza dough, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and Italian herbs. These pot pies are perfect for a cozy meal or party appetizer, featuring a golden crust and melty cheesy filling.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade pizza dough)

Filling

  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce or pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or your choice of toppings such as sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Finishing

  • Olive oil for brushing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the pot pies.
  2. Prepare Ramekins: Lightly grease 4-6 small ramekins or oven-safe bowls to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
  3. Roll Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness to create a thin crust base.
  4. Cut Dough: Cut the dough into circles or squares large enough to fit into your ramekins, allowing about 1 inch of dough to hang over the sides for sealing later.
  5. Form Crust: Gently press the dough into the bottom and sides of each ramekin to form a crust that will hold the fillings.
  6. Add Sauce: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce into the bottom of each dough-lined ramekin.
  7. Add Cheese Layer: Sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce for a melty, cheesy layer.
  8. Add Toppings: Add a few slices of pepperoni or your preferred toppings such as sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives.
  9. Season Filling: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using) over the toppings for extra flavor.
  10. Top and Seal: Add more mozzarella cheese on top and fold the overhanging dough over the filling to partially cover it.
  11. Brush with Olive Oil: Optionally brush the tops with olive oil for a golden, shiny crust finish after baking.
  12. Bake: Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  13. Cool: Remove from the oven and allow the pot pies to cool for 5 minutes to set before serving.
  14. Serve: Serve hot with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • You can customize the toppings to include your favorite pizza ingredients like sausage, mushrooms, or veggies.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the dough with olive oil before baking.
  • Use homemade pizza dough for a fresher taste and texture if preferred.
  • If you don’t have ramekins, use oven-safe muffin tins or small bowls.
  • The recipe yields 4-6 individual servings depending on the ramekin size.
