  • Author: Gabriel
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 24 bites 1x

Description

These Puff Pastry Pizza Bites are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring flaky puff pastry filled with pepperoni and melted string cheese, seasoned with Italian spices and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for parties, snacks, or a flavorful bite-sized treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry dough, thawed
  • 30 slices pepperoni
  • 6 pieces string cheese

For Topping

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry Dough Strips: Unroll the puff pastry dough on a clean surface and cut it into three long strips of equal size.
  3. Assemble Filling: Lay 10 slices of pepperoni in a row along the center of each dough strip, ensuring even distribution for each bite.
  4. Add Cheese: Place two pieces of string cheese on top of the pepperoni in each strip for a melty cheese center.
  5. Seal Dough: Fold the edges of each dough strip over the filling and pinch the seams tightly to seal the cheese and pepperoni inside.
  6. Slice into Bites: Cut each wrapped strip into one-inch slices to create bite-sized pieces.
  7. Apply Egg Wash and Seasonings: Place the slices cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each piece with the lightly beaten egg to help them brown nicely, then sprinkle parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning evenly over the top.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the cheese inside is melted and gooey.

Notes

  • Make sure the puff pastry is thoroughly thawed but still cold for easier handling.
  • Seal the dough edges well to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
  • Feel free to swap string cheese with mozzarella sticks or shredded mozzarella if preferred.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
